Program
This CADS program operates out of Snow Valley
Resort near Barrie. The program begins January 13th and runs
for 8 Sundays. There are two sessions offered – 11:00 am to
12:45 pm and 1:30 pm to 3:15pm.
Our students have a range of challenges –
paraplegia, autistic spectrum disorder, CP, polio, MS, Down’s
syndrome, and others – and are of all ages. Each student is
screened to determine his or her equipment and instructional
needs, and then matched with trained volunteer instructors and
assistants.
The eight- week program, including any special
equipment, is provided at a cost of $155. This cost includes
mandatory CADS membership.
Helmets
Skiing is a risky sport and safety is our top
priority. Helmets are required for all students. They are
available at Snow Valley Resort for a nominal charge.
Student Registration
Student registration begins in September. Please
call Snow Valley Resort at 1-877-404-4744 or 705-721-SNOW (7669)
to reserve your space. All Students must pre-register on a
first come – first serve basis.
Check this web site or contact Charlotte Russell
for details on the upcoming 2008 CADS program at Snow Valley
Resort.
Volunteers
We need your help!
No prior experience necessary. You supply the
enthusiasm and love of skiing and we’ll give you the training
you need.
All Adaptive Skiing Instructors should be strong
intermediate skiers.
All volunteers participate in training, starting
with an orientation session and Lift Evacuation drill in
December.
New Volunteers will receive complimentary lift
tickets for all program and training dates. Returning
volunteers, with the assessment of the Program Director, will
receive passes for free skiing, as well as resort discounts.
These passes are provided through the generous support of Snow
Valley Resort.
Volunteers are required to become a member of the
CADS organization to participate – a $35 fee provides you with
membership and insurance.
Please contact Charlotte at 905-815-8788 if you
are interested in the fun and rewarding experience of teaching
others to ski.
