CADS Durham Program
The program operates at the Oshawa Ski Club for 7 weeks on Sundays, starting the second Sunday after New Years. It provides support for persons who are physically and intellectually challenged. Participants are matched with trained volunteers. Average ski session is 2 hours.
CADS Durham fundraises the cost of the lift tickets, which is $5,000 annually. Equipment and instruction are provided by CADS Durham volunteers. Arrangements for additional equipment can be made with the on site Rental Shop.
Membership
Participants and Volunteers must become registered members of CADS, to participate and be properly insured. The cost is $175.00 for participants for the 7 week ski program, and $50 for volunteers. This membership provides insurance and access to a variety of discounts through CADS Ontario.
Volunteers
Volunteers are vital in running a successful program. CADS Durham provides comprehensive training. To promote consistent training for our participants, volunteers are required to be available for two 2-hour sessions each ski day, and 5 out of the 7 weeks during the program. Lift tickets for volunteers are provided through the fundraising efforts of CADS Durham.
