CADS Huronia Horseshoe Program
The program operates at the Horseshoe Resort for 8 weeks on Saturdays, starting Saturday January 7th 2012. It provides support for persons who are physically and intellectually challenged. There are two sessions running form 10:15 - 11:45 am and 1:30 - 3:00 pm. Skiers are matched with trained volunteer ski partners and supervisor/instructors provide formal instruction.
The cost of the eight-week program with lift tickets and rentals provided is $120.00 plus CADS membership that is an additional $35.00 for a total of $155.00. You can register online for CADS Membership at: Member Registration.
Please note that CADS membership does not guarantee placement in the program.
Membership
All skiers and volunteers are required to become members of CADS to participate and be properly insured. The cost is $35 and you can register online for CADS Membership at: Member Registration.
Volunteers
All volunteers participate in training, starting with orientation on Saturday December 10th, 2011 at Horseshoe Resort. Registration starts at 8:30 am with on snow sessions planned, weather permitting. New volunteers will receive lift tickets for program dates. Returning volunteers, with the assessment of the program supervisor, will receive staff passes for free skiing at any time, as well as resort discounts. Volunteers may be asked to complete a police background check.
NOTE: All on hill volunteers must be competent skiers, comfortable on Blue and Green runs
Registration
Registration for the program starts in September. Please contact The Horseshoe Resort Ski School (705 835-2790) and ask to register for the CADS Program. Space is limited, with priority given to returning students
